My favorite Jenny Craig food products

I started the Jenny Craig diet plan about 2 months ago. In that time I have flip flopped on whether I should quit and just try to lose weight on my own or stick with it.

Each time its time to order new food again, I make a resolve to stick with it. I know it's expensive but the food is really tasty - most of it - and I feel like it's actually making a difference even though, it's such a slow process.

The first batch of food I received was chosen for me and there were some food options I loved and some I hated. So I signed up for the plan which allowed me to choose what I want to eat.

Unfortunately some of my favorites were being discontinued like the Paste Ole and the Turkey Chili. Booo! But they come out with new stuff to try to make up for it like the Baja Style Chicken Quesadilla which I am not sure if I like or not because I was expecting the quesadilla to taste like how my mom used to always make my quesadilla's with Cheddar cheese when I was a kid. This Baja Style Chicken Quesadilla is much more grown up tasting with it's tomatilla salsa and what looks like bits of oregano.

The new Chicken Burrito which I have already tried is not my favorite either... but I do love...

  • Chicken Wrap with BBQ Sauce
    • So tasty and simple. On a scale of 1-10, it's like a 7
  • Chicken Street Tacos
    • Yum. My favorite. On a scale of 1-10, it's like a 9.5. Delicious with sliced cabbage salad
  • Chicken Tortilla Soup
    • I like to choose as many long shelf life items as I can in my order because I really don't have enough freezer space. This is a good one. And filling, too. It's about a 6.5 on the taste scale.
  • White Bean Chicken Chili
    • Another long shelf life item, it's filling and tasty and I like to eat it after i have given plasma and I need to replenish with a protein pick me up (although, I would have preferred the Turkey Chili which was a little higher in protein). 6.5 taste scale.
  • Kung Pao Beef
    • Mmmm. yum. It's got just the right amount of everything. It even has peanuts. I love peanuts. Taste scale it's about a 7.5
  • Meat Loaf & BBQ Sauce (comes with potatoes and side vegetables)
    • This is a nice meal for when everyone else is eating that Sunday dinner and you want to fit in, too. Sometimes I even have it for lunch though and I wanna feel like its my leftover Sunday dinner on Monday. It's about a 7.5
  • Cheesy Chicken Enchilada (with side of vegetables)
    • I guess I just love the Mexican style food entrees. This one is so tasty, too and it feels like I haven't just got ripped off from the over priciness of these items. It's very feeling and I don't feel like I need to add a salad to it. It's about an 8 on the taste scale.
  • Macaroni & Cheese (with side of vegetables)
    • I was never really one of those mac&cheese kids so, I think it's surprising that I enjoy this so much. Maybe it's because Kraft Mac n Cheese isn't my thing, but when I have had restaurant mac n cheese like at the Cracker Barrel, I love it. This is more like restaurant style mac n cheese and i like it very much. I usually eat it when I have prepared that Kraft stuff for my kids :) Taste scale: 8
  • Stuffed Pizza Bites
    • You know you got a winner when your kids want to eat your diet food. My kids love these. I let them try it once. Taste scale: 7
  • Margherita Pizza and Pepperoni Pizza
    • I love pizza. Who doesn't? It's a very different taste from Domino's and Pizza Hut, but it's still good. Admittedly, I haven't ordered this is my latest order because I figure if I order pizza from Domino's I am just gonna go off menu and have a slice together with my kids. Only, instead of eating 2-3 slices like I used to, I only it one slice, and follow it up with some side salad or raw veggies! Taste scale 6.5
Surprisingly most of the meals above contain chicken which is a low-fat high protein food source. Perhaps this is why I gained lots of weight to begin with... I love pork and beef and did not eat a lot of turkey or chicken in the past.

That was just a sample of my favorite Lunch & Dinner options. Next time I will cover the Breakfast options, etc etc.
